Monae was born in Kansas City, Kansas and she got her big break in 2005 when she was invited by Big Boi to work on several OutKast tracks. Monae became an R&B sensation with the release of her futuristic album 'The ArchAndroid' in 2010. This debut album became No. 17 on the Billboard U.S. album chart and received a Grammy nomination. 'The ArchAndroid' was followed by the sophomore album The Electric Lady (2013). Then, Monae appeared in Moonlight and Hidden Figures in 2016. She has continued to release new music, and tour, while also establishing herself as a successful record producer.
