Jane’s Addiction is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Jane’s Addiction formed in 1989 and consists of Perry Farell singing, Dave Navarro on guitar, Stephen Perkins on drums and Chris Chaney on bass. The band was founded by Farell following his previous band, Psi Com. The band released a self-titled album in 1987 as their debut studio album. Jane’s Addiction followed it up with their 1988 album, Nothing’s Shocking, followed by the 1990 album, Ritual de lo Habitual released to critical acclaim. The band has since broke up and reunited several times, including once with Flea from Red Hot Chili Pepper playing bass guitar in 1997. The band later released The Great Escape Artist in 2011 along with a subsequent international tour. Jane’s Addiction became popular in the Los Angeles performance circuit during their beginning as a live band, performing regularly at Scream and The Roxy. Following the band’s Nothings Shocking album release, the toured opening for Iggy Pop and The Ramones.After the release of their 1990 album, Ritual de lo Habitual, the band embarked upon a 13 month world tour, including headlining Lollapalooza and performing with other notable acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Butthole Surfers, Living Colour, The Rollins Band, The Violent Femmes, and more. Their live tracks, “Been Caught Stealing” and “Stop” became breakout hits. In 1997, during the first Jane’s Addiction reunion where Flea briefly joined the band, they produced the compilation album, Kettle Whistle, which featured two new songs with Flea on bass. The band released Strays in 2003 and spend much of the year touring in support of the album. In 2009, Jane’s Addiction toured with Nine Inch Nails after releasing yet another compilation album. Jane’s Addiction later came together to release their 2011 hit album, The Great Escape Artist, which they followed up with the 2012 world tour, Theatre of the Escape Artist. The band has been together ever since, playing many shows throughout the US and worldwide.
