Diana Krall is a Canadian jazz singer and pianist, renowned for her contralto vocals. Born on November 16, 1964, Krall has sold over 6 million albums in the United States and more than 15 million globally. In 2009, she was ranked second by the Billboard magazine in the list of most popular Jazz artists of decade, making her one of the highest grossing artists of our time. Diana Krall is not only attributed with eight albums debuting on the top of the Billboard Jazz Charts, she is also the only jazz singer to have accomplished that feat. Krall released her first album Stepping Out in 1993, which was recorded along with Jeff Hamilton and John Clayton. She released her third album, All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio in 1996, Which was nominated for the Grammys and ruled the Billboard Jazz Charts for 70 weeks at a stretch. The year 1997 saw the release of Love Scenes that quickly gained popularity and became a hit record.
After marrying American singer Elvis Costello, Krall worked along with him as a songwriter and started composing her own songs that resulted in the album ‘The Girl in the Other Room’. The woozy, ingenious jazz singer has tried to explore a fresh horizon by covering songs that made it big on the Hot 100 during her youth. In her latest album, Krall has covered many of the popular American songs from back in the 80s. Produced by David Foster, this album sees Krall introducing her own magical touch to songs like Bryan Adams’ ‘Feels Like Home’, Bob Dylan’s ‘Wallflower’, Crowded House’s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ and others. In support of Wallflower, Krall will enter on a full length tour that includes legs in North America and Europe.
