Joe Satriani is an instrumental rock guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He is a 15 time Grammy Award nominee and has sold over ten million albums worldwide. Joe Satriani has toured with The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, and many other greats. Joe Satriani first studied jazz guitar at age 14 and would later go on to make a living as a guitar instructor himself. Joe Satriani released his first solo guitar album, Not of This Earth in 1986. Joe Satriani started playing with the San Francisco band, Squares, who helped him produce his second solo album Surfing with the Alien, which included his hit songs “Crushing Day” that came to be featured in the film It Takes Two. In 1989, Joe Satriani released the album Flying in a Blue Dream, inspired by the death of his father.
In 1992, Joe Satriani released an album titled The Extremist, his most commercially successful album to yet, which included “Summer Song”, “Cryin” and “Friends”. In 1996, Joe Satriani founded the G3 concert tour featuring three guitarists. Joe Satriani started recording regularly and produced the albums Strange Beautiful Music in 2002, Is There Love in Space in 2004, Super Colossal in 2006 and a live album titled Satriani Live in 2006. In 2008 Joe Satriani would release Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock and later another live album, Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock in 2010.
Joe Satriani’s 13th studio album was titled Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards released in 2010 and his 14th album Unstoppable Momentum, along with several more live album and compilations in 2013. In 2015, Joe Satriani released Shockwave Supernova. In addition to his own extensive body of work, Joe Satriani also helped produce albums for countless other bands over the years and tours extensively either as a solo artists or a touring guitarist for other bands.
