Mayer is not just a singer-songwriter with number one hits and Grammy Awards, he is also a producer and writer. He called Connecticut home growing up, and now lives in Montana. It is rumored that pop-country singer, Taylor Swift wrote a song about Mayer called, “Dear John.” With his new album, Paradise Valley, it been reported that Mayer responds to Swift by writing a song in retort called, “Paper Doll.” Mayer has also taken to writing for Esquire magazine in a monthly column called, “A Music Lesson With John Mayer.” He has been touring this year with his Born And Raised World Tour, in part with Phillips Phillips, his music is said to have more electric guitars veering away from the harmonica, and also alludes to the mistakes of his past and how has has matured. Mayer has toured with headliners like Sheryl Crow, Maroon 5, Colbie Caillat, Train and One Republic. Mayor last toured in Europe in 2007 supporting his Continuum album, it was considered a pop-rock, blues-rock sound and brought him several Grammy nominations and awards. “Waiting For The World To Change” was its lead single and won him a Grammy. Mayer’s concerts and tours focus on just the music, showcasing guitars solos and his voice.
“Born And Raised ” Fall World Tour (With Phillip Phillips)
In support of his new album of the same name, and his new release, Paradise Valley, Mayer has been touring since July and will finish in Byron Bay Australia next year on April 17, 2014. The tour has been on hold due to the throat granuloma, but after making a recovery the tour is on the road with Phillip Phillip. The show consists of Mayer, his back-up singers, band and his guitar. You can expect to hear new songs and the classics that got him here, “Your Body Is A Wonderland,” “Gravity” and “Something Like Olivia.”
Venues hosting the concerts will be a sold out show at the Hollywood Bowl, on October 15, 2013, Tyson Events Center in Sioux City on November 201, 2013, Fed-Ex Forum in Memphis on November 29, 2013 and the Bridgestone Arena on Nashville on December 4, 2013. He will revisit Austin, Texas on December 6, 2013 at The Frank Erwin Center, making a few stops in between, will then end with a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and then on to a final showing a few months later at the Bluesfest in Byron Bay Australia on April 17, 2014.
