The Jonas Brothers was undoubtedly one of the most popular groups of the 2000s, with more than 8 million albums sold worldwide and legions of adoring fans. Born the sons of musical parents in the shore community of Wyckoff, N.J., Kevin, Joseph and Nicholas showed a musical acumen from an early age, but it was Nicholas who wowed music executives at Columbia Records and released a solo album of his own. After Nick worked with his brothers to write new material, Columbia brought on the trio for a full-scale recording contract and their career was on the track to superstardom.

The group's first album, It's About Time, proved to be a modest hit on the charts, breaking into the top 100 of the Billboard charts but never achieving the mainstream success that the band craved. Columbia Records dropped the group soon after its first album, but the Jonas Brothers found a niche with Hollywood Records, which is owned by Disney. With Disney's backing, the Jonas Brothers began to appear in a variety of on-screen roles on the Disney network, which helped build momentum for their second studio album, the self-titled Jonas Brothers.

The band's second album went double-platinum and featured the singles "Year 3000," "Hold On," "SOS" and "When You Look Me In the Eyes." The record started a string of successful albums like A Little Bit Longer, the unexpected sales of the soundtrack for the film Camp Rock, as well as Lines, Vines and Trying Times, released in 2009. After a multi-year hiatus over the course of the late 2000s to concentrate on acting endeavors, solo projects and other collaborations, the Jonas Brothers have their sights set on 2013, when they'll drop their fifth studio album and kick off their biggest tour in years.
