Kenny Loggins is a Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and guitarist. Kenny Loggins’ first recordings were with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970, followed by Loggins and Messina from 1972 to 1977. Kenny Loggins is one of the most successful solo artists to compose soundtracks for major motion pictures, dating all the way back to 1976 with his work on the soundtrack for the film A Star is Born. He won an academy award for “Footloose” in 1994 and holds twelve platinum albums, earning him the nickname, “The Soundtrack King”.
After the release of Finally Home in 2013, Kenny Loggins formed the group Blue Sky Riders along with Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman. Other bands Kenny Loggins was in include The New Improved Electric Prunes, Gator Creek, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Loggins and Messina. With Jim Messina, the two signed into a six album contract. Their first release was Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin’ In in 1972 and featured the popular song “Vahevala”. Following the release of their 1976 album Native Sons, Messina and Kenny Loggins parted ways and Loggins began pursuing his solo career.
Kenny Loggins’ first solo album was Celebrate Me Home, which featured the song “I Believe in Love” sung originally by Barbara Streisand in A Star Is Born. Along with Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins co-wrote the song “What a Fool Believes”, which reached the number one position on the pop singles chart and earned the two a Grammy Award for Song of the Year. Kenny Loggins went on to record successful soundtracks for film such as “I’m Alright” from Caddyshack, “Footloose” and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man)” for Footloose, “Meet Me Half Way” for Over the Top, “Danger Zone” and “Playing With the Boys” for Top Gun, and many more.
Kenny Loggins has since joined the country music band Blue Sky Riders, who released their debut album Finally Home in 2013 and their second album Why Not, in 2016. In 2016, Kenny Loggins along with the Blue Sky Riders released their highly anticipated second album Why Not and went on a tour in support of the album’s release. Kenny Loggins and the Blue Sky Riders performed a mix of their hit songs from their debut album Finally Home as well as songs from their 2016 released album during their concerts.
