Lifehouse have been established as one of the most solid and well-known American rock/pop bands of the last twenty years, and have sold over 15 million records worldwide. The band began as a way to cope with divorcing parents and moving to a new city, and their popularity began when they would play college and high school gigs. With the help of DreamWorks Records, an EP was recorded and sold independently as the Lifehouse’s first release, but they were under the name Blyss. In 2000, some of these tracks were re-recorded for a release on the label itself, and the band had changed its name. Lifehouse stands for the subject matters discussed in the band’s music; the everyday moments that affect us all, and that may be momentous to each, even though everyone faces them. The band’s first single from this release was “Hanging By A Moment”, and remains one of their most popular of all time. The success of the single meant that a generation of fans would come to recognize Lifehouse as important and meaningful to them personally, and that is still what drives the band to this day.

The early 2000s saw continuing popularity thanks to Lifehouse’s music being featured regularly on one of the biggest teen dramas of the time; Smallville. The show ran for ten seasons, and the band even featured, playing the prom at the end of season four. Their track, “You And Me”, from their self-titled third album was another huge track. Not only was it featured in Smallville, but also Scrubs, Grey’s Anatomy, Boston Legal and Gavin & Stacey - some of the most successful shows of the mid-late 00s. Since then, Lifehouse have toured and worked with acts such as The Goo Goo Dolls, Colbie Caillat, The Calling, Natasha Bedingfield and Nickelback. Their fanbase has remained loyal, and the music has always been a big part of why that is. The relatable subject matter, and pure American pop rock sound is forever popular, and the band continue to perform their best loved tracks, amping up the rockier stuff and including some soulful acoustic numbers to the joy of crowds all over the world.
