Born Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor in New Zealand is the breakout artist of 2013 with her hit single, “Royals.” The song became number one in New Zealand followed by the U.S. shortly after, making her the youngest to hit the top 100 in 26 years. Lorde is nominated for a total of four Grammys, which include Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Royals and Best Pop Vocal Album for her debut album, Pure Heroine. The seventeen year old was writing music and songs since she was 13, and will graduate high school this coming year. She is currently on tour celebrating her album release with a concert dates starting in Austin, Texas on March 3 at the Austin Music Hall and ending the U.S. tour in Oakland, CA at the Fox Theater on March 27. Lorde 2014 North American Tour
This is Lorde’s debut concert tour and with her show dates prior to this it has already shown her star power and great maturity. She comes out of a darkened stage in Goth-like apparel and owns every song from her album, Pure Heroine. Backed only by a drummer and keyboardist/laptop-clicker it is a heavy synthesis/bass with her melodic alto singing voice. The tour will focus on songs from the album, “Tennis Courts” and “Team,” but will also include covers like Tears For Fears, “Everybody Wants to Rule The World” and Kanye Wests’ “Hold My Liquor.”
Top stops for the tour start in Austin, Texas at the Austin Music Hall on March 3, moving through Texas to Dallas and Houston March 4th and 5th at the Southside Ballroom and Bayou respectively. She will then hit the East coast and NYC on March 10, 11, 12 at the Roseland Ballroom. She will make a brief stop in Canada on March 15, at the Sound Academy, heading towards Seattle on March 24 at WAMU and finishing in the U.S. in Oakland, CA on March 27th at the Fox Theater.
