The Moody Blues are an English rock band that first came to prominence performing rhythm and blues music. Moody Blues are also known as being pioneers of the progressive rock style of music, blending elements of rock, classical, and R&B. Moody Blues are internationally known for their hits “Go Now”, “Nights in White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon”, and “Question”. Moody Blues have been awarded 18 platinum and gold discs and have sold over 70 million albums worldwide. In 1964, Moody Blues released their first single “Steal Your Heart Away”, later appearing on the television show Ready Steady Go! Where they performed “Lose Your Money (But Don’t Lose Your Mind)”.
The Moody Blues released a self-titled four track EP in 1965 followed by their debut full-length album The Magnificent Moodies in 1965. The Moody Blues saw a number of line-up changes in the 60’s, re-forming in 1966 with the release of “Boulevard de la Madeline”. In 1967 Moody Blues released Days of Future Passed, which earned them a gold record and became an international phenomenon. The Moody Blues had many more hit songs in the 1960s, including “Nights in White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon”, and “Legend of a Mind”, the latter of which appeared on their 1968 album, In Search of the Lost Chord. In 1969, Moody Blues released On the Threshold of a Dream featuring the tracks “Lovely to See You”, “Never Comes the Day”, “So Deep Within You” and “The Dream”. That same year Moody Blues released To Our Children’s Children, which included the songs “Gypsy”, “Watching and Waiting” and “Eternity”.
1970 saw the release of the Moody Blues album A Question of Balance, which reached the number three position in the American charts and number one in the UK album charts. In 1971, the band released Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and the following year the album Seventh Sojourn came out, followed by a re-issue of Night in White Satin later in 1972. In 2015, The Moody Blues toured extensively, performing in large stadiums and arenas around the world, including headlining music festivals such as Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
