My Morning Jacket is a rock band that was formed in Kentucky. The members include, Jim James (guitarist and songwriter). Along with Patrick Hallahan (drummer), Carl Broemel (guitarist, vocalist, saxophonist, and pedal steel guitarist), Bo Koster (keyboards, vocals, percussionist), Tom ‘Two-Tone Tommy’ Blankenship (bassist), and Jim James (song-writer, sing, guitarist). The band made its debut in 1999 with The Tennessee Fire. Another album called At Dawn was introduced as well.. In 2002, they signed an agreement with ATO Records and made their break through with their album, It Still Moves. In 2004, they released two collections, including demos, live recordings, as well as, cover versions. The collection was divided on to two discs, Early Recordings Chapter 1- The Sandworm Cometh and Early Recordings Chapter 2- Learning. Later on in 2005, they released yet another album called, album Z, with Sony BMG. They got featured in a 2005 film, Elizabethtown and contributed with the originals, ‘Where to Begin,’ and ‘Same in any Language.’ Later on in 2006, the band appeared as guests on the Late Night Show with David Letterman. They released a live double album in 2006 as well and a DVD entitled as Okonokos. They also played a jam session and opened for Pearl Jam in August for Lollapalooza. In 2008, they released another album, Evil Urges, appearing on the Late Night Show in the same year. Evil Urges was nominated for the Grammy awards under the category of Best Alternative Rock Album. My Morning Jacket's The Waterfall Tour 2015
The band will start the official tour in Raleign, NC, on July 28. The concert performances will continue all throughout the US and in many other countries. The Waterfall is My Morning Jacket’s seventh album; the tour being in support of it. The album came out in May 2015 with ATO Records and Capitol Records. James contributed the lyrics to the album, most of them being about heartbreaks, romance, injuries, and spirituality. The genre on the album fell under psychedelia, folk, and R&B. The tour was officially announced after the success of the album as it debuted at number 11 on Billboard 200 and became My Morning Jacket’s career best selling album. It even received fabulous reviews from the critics, especially contemporary critics, who were considering it a great improvement compared to the previous two albums. In order to promote the album, several murals were painted on walls throughout several cities in the US. My Morning Jacket will be supporting their new release with their tour; the tour also supports environmental causes with the help of a philanthropic group the band created after the album. During the Waterfall Tour, the band will perform in theaters and festivals.
