Nathaniel Rateliff is a folk music singer and songwriter from Hermann, Missouri. His popular band that records soul and R&B music - Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats - was formed in 2013. Rateliff learned to play the drums at the age of seven. As a young teenager, he taught himself guitar and began writing his own songs. As Nathaniel Rateliff and the Wheel, he released the album Desire and Dissolving Men on Public Service Records in 2007. He then released In Memory of Loss by himself in the USA on Rounder Records in 2010, and then in the UK on Decca in 2011. Rateliff’s 2011 album was made with producer Brian Deck from Iron & Wine and was listed by Amazon.com as the top album you might have missed in 2010.
Without publicly announcing it, Rateliff released his second solo studio album, Falling Faster Than You Can Run, in 2013 on Mod y Vi Records. Following the release, he went on tour with The Lumineers and Dr. Dog. In 2015, Rateliff released a self-titled album, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, through Stax Records, which included the song "S.O.B." Rateliff has since been touring with the Night Sweats, which is made up of Joseph Pope, Mark Shusterman, Patrick Meese, Luke Mossman, Wesley Watkins and Andy Wild.
