Pentatonix is an a cappella group from Arlington, Texas and consists of five vocalists: Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola. The group came to fame after winning the third season of The Sing Off, and while some of the members knew each other prior to auditions for the show, the band as we know it now only met a day before auditions, nailed it and won. The group started posting videos of the most popular covers, including “Somebody I Used To Know” by Gotye and they went viral. They have put out 4 singles and 3 extended plays EP’s, PTX, Vol 1, PTSmas and PTX, Vol2, with PTXmas hitting number one on the US Digital Albums Chart. Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us” is their current release and so far has over 10 million views, along with “Daft Punk,” “Radioactive” and “Little Drummer Boy.” With their trademark sound and win on The Sing Off, they take to the road in a 49-city worldwide tour. Pentatonix Tour Information

Pentatonix “US and European Tour 2013”

Pentatonix embarked on their first national headlining tour in the fall of 2012. The tour was sold-out and spanned 30 cities. Openings acts consisted of Alexander Cardinale and SJ Acoustic Music. PTX began their show with a YouTube hit mashup: “Save the World/Don’t You Worry Child” by Swedish House Mafia on a pitch black stage with the occasional flash of light. This was followed by a mix of Justin Bieber’s, “As Long As You Love Me” and Katy Perry’s, “Wide Awake.” Making sure that the fans from the Sing-Off were happy, PTX performed some of their biggest hits on the show, “Video Killed the Radiostar” by the Buggles, “OMG” by Usher, and “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye.

Pentatonix “US and European Tour 2014”

As they get ready to go on their third world tour, PTX packs up their bag of tricks, which includes the unique a cappella sound, voice sound effects, and perhaps their own original songs. The tour is set to hit 48 major venues in the US as well as Europe and the UK, with a majority of these events selling out within minutes. They give voices to instruments and shuffle amongst each other with ease to bolt out and mashup some of the best covers. You can expect a mashup of their own cover hits, lights, costume changes and screaming fans begging for more. Songs to listen for will be, “Valentine,” “Natural Disaster” and “I Need Your Love.”
