With a soulful voice that's mature beyond her years, British songstress Adele has emerged as one of the best young singers around today. At a young age, Adele has enjoyed nothing but critical and commercial success in her career, and if her powerful vocals and prescient lyrics are any indication, she will be around for years to come.
Despite her considerable singing prowess, Adele never set out to be a pop star herself. However, after a friend put some of her songs on MySpace, the offers started to come in and she was off on her career soon after graduating high school. After the release of her debut single "Hometown Glory," it wasn't long before she was making a name for herself not only in the UK but across the pond as well.
It wasn't just fans who took notice of "Hometown Glory," either. The track was a favorite among critics and proved to be an impressive first step into the music world as she received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The single was eventually included on her debut album, 19, which was released in 2008 and featured other popular tracks such as "Chasing Pavement" and a unique take on the Bob Dylan song "Make You Feel My Love." She eventually went on to win two Grammys for the album, including one for Best New Artist.
Since her debut, Adele's popularity has only gotten bigger. Though some expressed skepticism about her marketability in the United States at first, she has since gained a large and loyal fan base that can feel the emotion and thought put into every word. Her 2011 release, 21, signified her growth as a musician and a person. The lead single "Rolling In The Deep" was an immediate hit. Like her previous songs, her soulful voice dominates the tune, which grew to be one of the most well-received songs of the year.
Though Adele is still in the early stages of her career, she has all the tools to make it big. In fact, the popularity of her sophomore album vaulted her debut into the top 5, making her the only artist other than The Beatles to have two albums simultaneously that high on the UK charts.
