Over the past several years, rapper and songwriter Flo Rida has become one of the most successful artists of his genre and a highly sought-after collaborator. Flo Rida, a native Floridian whose real name is Tramar Dillard, lived in Miami for much of his life and joined a series of amateur rap groups before settling in with the GroundHoggz. Although the group had begun recording and putting out singles, Flo Rida got his big break in 2006 when he signed with Poe Boy Entertainment. When his first album, Mail on Sunday, dropped in 2008, Flo Rida would quickly become one of the most famous musicians in the United States.
Mail on Sunday proved to be one of the biggest rap albums to hit the charts in years, and the record's debut single "Low" featuring T-Pain would climb all the way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart. The album also featured successful singles like "Elevator" featuring Timbaland, "In the Ayer" with will.i.am and "Roll" featuring Sean Kingston. All of these songs would break into the Hot 100 and would garner Flo Rida a series of collaborative projects with artists such as Lady Gaga, DJ Khaled, Ace Hood and many others.
Flo Rida avoided the sophomore slump and came back with a bang in 2009 with the release of his second album, R.O.O.T.S. The record's first single, "Right Round" featuring Ke$ha was a runaway hit and reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts. The song would also set a record for most digital sales in one week after 636,000 downloads were posted. Other tracks like "Sugar" and "Jump" received consistent airplay and showcased just how far Flo Rida had come as a musician.
In late 2010, Flo Rida released his third album, Only One Flo, Pt. 1, which surprisingly didn't even break into the Billboard 100 Hot Albums chart. However, the record featured some successful tracks like "Club Can't Handle Me" with David Guetta, "Come with Me" and "Puzzle." Flo Rida's most recent album, Wild Ones, was a major comeback for the artist in the summer of 2012 and hit No. 14 on the Hot 100 Albums chart. "Levels" and "Something's Got a Hold on Me" have become huge commercial hits and brought Flo Rida back to the public's consciousness. With an impressive discography to his credit, Flo Rida has become one of the most respected rappers in the genre with a bright career ahead of him.
