Atlanta born and Chicago raised producer and hip hop/rapper began rapping in the third grade. His controversial acts over the years, including the now infamous stunt involving Taylor Swift at the Grammys, has kept him in the headlines. His debut album, The College Dropout in 2004, was a huge commercial success with five singles and 10 Grammy nominations. The first single, “Through The Wire” was sung while his mouth was wired shut from a near fatal accident. He next released Late Registration, includes hits such as “Touch The Sky,” “Heard ‘Em Say” and “Gold Digger.” His seventh album, Yeezus, has an overall tone that is dark, however he left his comfort zone and layered the album in punk, new wave, and rock. “Yeezus Tour” (With Kendrick Lamar)
West and Lamar will launch from Seattle and end in Houston after a 7-week tour. The Yeezus Tour will feature special guests, to be announced, at selected venues starting in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on October 25. This is the singers first solo tour in five years. With the release of Yeezus, like the singer himself, controversy surrounds the album. Fans can expect to hear a bulk of West’s preceding material, plus newly released singles “Black Skinheads” and “New Slaves.” Kendrick Lamar is just coming off his Good Kid M.A.A.D. City Tour where “Poetic Justice” and “Swimming Pools (Drank)” were featured along with his other string of hits.
The 22-city event will make notable stops, which includes two in his hometown of Chicago at the United Center on November 7th, and 9th and two in Los Angels at Staples Center on October 26th and 28th, and two in Texas at the American Airlines Center in Dallas and the Toyota Center in Houston, where the tour will end December 12, 1013. Fans can expect a highly electronic, synthesized, and load explosion of music and something very different from West. But, without doubt, you will hear what has made him notorious, his rap and hip hop hits.
