While he may be Scott Mescudi to some, almost everybody else knows him as Kid Cudi, one of the fastest-rising rappers in the music world. Ever since he burst on the scene in 2009, Kid Cudi has proven to be one of the more innovative young rappers out there and in his short career has collaborated with he likes hip-hop superstars Common and Kanye West. If Cudi keeps it up, there's no telling how high he could go.

Kid Cudi got his start thanks in large part to Kanye. The mercurial rapper collaborated with Cudi on his 2008 album "808s and Heartbreak," singing on one of the tracks while offering his songwriting skills on the hit single "Heartless." It would not be long before Kid Cudi was making a name for himself in his own right, and he got his big break less than a year later.

After appearing in a number of videos and accompanying such stars as Travis Barker and DJ AM on stage, Kid Cudi released his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Days in 2009. The album was both a critical and commercial success, eventually peaking at number four on the Billboard 200 charts all while earning positive reviews. It also included a number of popular singles, including "Day 'n Nite," "Pursuit of Happiness," and "Make Her Say," which featured verses from Kanye and Common, all while sampling an acoustic version of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face."

After the immense success of Cudi's debut album, many thought he would suffer from the sophomore slump, and while his follow-up failed to reach the level of his first effort, it certainly was nothing to scoff at. Released in 2010, his follow-up Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Roger, peaked at number three on the Billboard charts. The album was a hit thanks in large part to the first single "Erase Me."

In addition to touring, recording new music, and even acting in the HBO comedy How To Make It in America, Cudi remains one of the most popular rappers around. With his hand in so many projects, and the skills to back it up, it's safe to say that Kid Cudi will be around for years to come.
