The band “Chicago” was formed in the year 1967. This American band was formed in Chicago, Illinois and is popularly known for their rock music. The band described itself as the rock and roll band with horns. Initially the music that they came up with was politically charged but later on it moved to developing music which was softer and much lighter. This led to them generating a number of ballads that were well accepted by the general public. The group remained dominant during the 1970s and the 1980s. The original line up of the band consisted of Walter Parazaider playing the saxophone, Terry Kath was the guitarist, Danny Seraphine was the drummer, the trombonist was James Pankow, Lee Loughnane was in charge of playing the trumpets, and Robert Lamm was responsible for handling the keyboards and was also the singer. Kath, Seraphine, Loughnane, Pankow and Parazider first met when they were students at DePaul University, this was back in 1967. Lamm was recruited from Roosevelt University and the six of them started a band. They started off by calling themselves “The Big Thing”. The band started off playing the top hits. Later they realized that they needed a tenor in order to complement Lamm and Kath’s baritone and for this purpose, they recruited Peter Cetera who was the local tenor and bassist.
