Kristin Chenoweth is an American singer and actress. Kristin Chenoweth was a very successful actress before she began her musical career. She has an extensive background in theatre that includes the off-Broadway musical Animal Crackers, roles on several television series on both ABC and NBC and has appeared in movies such as Topa Topa Bluffs, the film adaptation of Bewitched, The Pink Panther, RV, Running with Scissors, Deck the Halls and Stranger Than Fiction.
As a child, Kristin Chenoweth sang gospel music and studied opera prior to pursuing a career in musical theatre. She is a classically trained coloratura soprano and is known for having a very distinctive and unique voice. While she was featured in the cast recordings of many of the productions she was a part of, including The Most Happy Fella, A New Brian, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, 110 in the Shade and more, it wasn’t until 2001 that Kristin Chenoweth released her debut album, Let Yourself Go. The album featured Kristin Chenoweth singing a collection of standards from musicals in the 1930s, including a track in which she sang with Jason Alexander. With the release of her debut album, Kristin Chenoweth began touring and singing at large theatres across the US.
In 2007, Kristin Chenoweth released her second album, As I Am, which featured various spiritual songs. The album reached the number 31 position on the Christian Albums Chart and Kristin Chenoweth went on to do more tours in support of the album. The next year, Kristin Chenoweth released her third album, A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas, featuring a duet with John Pizzarelli. This album reached the 77 spot on the Billboard Album charts and number 7 on the US Holiday Albums chart. Her following album, Some Lessons Learned was released in 2011 followed by Coming Home in 2014.
