An American singer-songwriter, Neil Diamond began his career in the 1960s. Since then, the artist has sold more than 125 million records internationally, making him one of the highest selling singers-songwriters of all time. He charts behind the likes of Elton John and Barbara Streisand as the third most successful adult contemporary artist on the Billboard. Kicking off his singing career with a school friend, Neil released two unsuccessful singles in early 1962. Later the same year, he signed a deal with Columbia Records label and released his first solo single ‘At Night’ b/w ‘Clown Town’ in 1963, The song failed to make it in the Hot 100 and Neil was back to songwriting.

He released ‘Solitary Man’ in collaboration with the Bert Berns's Bang Records in 1969; the song became his first ever hit as a solo artist and then the decade saw him releasing one hit after another. ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘Holly Holy’, ‘Cracklin' Rosie’, and ‘Song Sung Blue’ are just some of the songs that contributed to his rising fame.
In the decades that followed, Neil Diamond achieved remarkable success, releasing one hit after another. He has an astounding eleven No.1 singles on the Adult Contemporary and Hot 100 Charts some of which include ‘Longfellow Serenade’, ‘I'm a Believer’, ‘Heartlight’, ‘America’, ‘If You Know’, ‘What I Mean’, and others. In 1982, Neil Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 2011, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2000. Diamond received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in August 2012.
