Sheryl Crow is famous American singer-songwriter, blending styles of blues, country, pop, rock and folk into her commercially lauded musical success. Crow was born in Kennett, Missouri on February 11, 1963 to parents who were both musicians – her father was a trumpet player and her mother a piano teacher.
Sheryl Crow’s musical success began with the release of her debut album, Tuesday Night Music Club. In the 1990’s, the album sold over 7 million copies in the United States and UK, and won Crow three Grammy Awards in 1995: Best New Artist, Best Female Vocal Performance and Record of the Year. The song “All I Wanna Do” climbed the charts and quickly became a smash hit for Crow.
In 1998, Crow release the album The Globe Sessions, which later won the Grammy award for Best Rock Album of the Year. Crow has a few acting credits as well, starring in the 1999 movie The Minus Man with then-boyfriend Owen Wilson. Although having been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2006, Crow has fully recovered and continues to pound out the hits. Her most recent album, Detours, was released in February 2008, and debuted at #2 on the U.S. Billboard charts.
