The English rock band, The Who was formed in 1964. The band consists of Roger Daltrey, lead singer, followed by the guitarist Pete Townshend, drummer Keith Moon, and bassist John Entwistle. Having sold more than a 100 million records, this rock band has and remains to be a great influence in the genre. They were able to conquer hearts, minds, and souls of millions worldwide through their music. The Who initially was a part of a pop art band called the Detours. They gained popularity for mod movements and were famous for destroying their instruments up on the stage. Their first ever single made it to UK’s top 10, and was called “I Can’t Explain”. This reign was followed by more hit singles like “My Generation”, “Happy Jack”, and “Substitute”. During a tour in 1967, The Who once again released an international sensation, their new single called “I Can See for Miles”. The single was an amazing hit and managed to secure a position for itself in the US Top Ten Singles. The band managed to get even more commercial success with the release of the fourth album which featured a track called, “Pinball Wizard”. The crew then released albums in the years of 1971, 1973, and 1975. After a long break, the band got back together and resumed regular tours in 1989. The Who released yet another album in 2006 called Endless Wire, which also turned out to be a major success as expected. It’s believed that The Who has been a major contributor to the rock genre. They also influenced many other bands in to use Marshall Amplifiers, PA systems, and synthesizers. These tools have known to change the perception of music worldwide, thanks to The Who. In 2013, the band announced that they will commence their final world tour in 2015. They added that they would perform in cities and locations they had never had a chance to perform in. Daltrey stated, “We can't go on touring forever... it could be open-ended, but it will have finality to it.” In May 2015, The Who made it to the headlines at the Glastonbury Festival to celebrate their 50th anniversary. To celebrate their achievements, and their legacy, all of their singles and complications were reissued in a vinyl edition. All singles and tracks were included, some dating as far back as 1964.
