Santigold is one of the most exciting projects in the music industry, an ever-evolving group with a revolving door of contributors lead by frontwoman, Santi White. White worked for Epic Records during the 1990s, but soon saw her talent for producing and began to work with a variety of young artists throughout the industry. It was during this time that White caught on with the group Stiffed, a ska band that released the albums Sex Sells in 2003 and Burned Again in 2005. During her time with Stiffed, White met John Hill, who would go on to help White form Santigold in future years, as well as the time period when White would receive a recording contract from Martin Heath of Lizard King Records.
White's debut album, Santogold, was released in April 2007 and would feature a bevy of talented collaborators and would be critically-acclaimed from all corners of the music industry. The record boasted successful singles like "L.E.S. Artistes" and "Creator" were wildly successful and the latter would help improve the group's profile by being featured in commercials in the United States and United Kingdom. The group would receive a further boost of popularity in the late 2000s by touring with such huge acts as Coldplay, M.I.A. and Björk.
In February 2009, the group's name was officially changed to Santigold and the group truly began to take shape with a series of new collaborators and artists that contributed to a variety of new releases. With musical influences including indie, reggae, punk, hip-hop and many more, Santigold had set themselves apart as a wholly new venture in the music business. Although Santigold's second album wasn't released soon after the first, White continued to stay busy with a variety of side projects and was featured in a series of tracks with the Beastie Boys, N.A.S.A. and many more.
In April 2012, the long-awaited Santigold album, Master of My Make-Believe, was released and would become one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of the year. Featuring the hit single "Disparate Youth," Santigold featured a series of talented collaborators and an eclectic sound that appealed to the group's growing legion of fans. Above all, as versatile and ever-changing as Santigold has proven to be, it has been the brainchild of Santi White who has proven that she has the musical and production talent to make a major impact on the music industry.
