Shakey Graves, hailing from Austin, Texas, plays a cross between blues, country, and rock and roll. Shakey Graves has performed at many stadiums, arenas, and music festivals around the U.S. as Alejandro Rose-Garcia before receiving his stage name Shakey Graves, at Old Settler’s Music Festival in 2007 when a friend joking gave one another Indian guide names over a campfire. Shakey Graves decided to keep the name and continued performing. Known for his one man band stage set-up on his debut album in 2011, Roll the Bones, Shakey Graves performs unaccompanied by other musicians. Shakey Graves released his Donor Blues EP in 2012. During the recording process for his sophomore album, Shakey Graves, And the War Came, Shakey Graves added musicians to his live recordings and live concert performances as well. This includes three songs on And the War Came which Shakey Graves recorded with Paper Bird member Esme Patterson. Shakey Graves’ second album was produced, engineered and mixed by Chris Boosahda. Boosahda also contributed drums, vocals, and other percussions to the Shakey Graves song, “Big Time Nashville Star” on the album And the War Came. Patrick O’Connor from Los Angeles plays guitar and bass with Shakey Graves during his live performances.
Shakey Graves first debuted on television in 2014 with Boosahda, Patterson, and Robinson on the Conan O’Brein show and The Late Show with David Letterman later that same year. In 2015, Shakey Graves with their new ensemble performed at Austin City Limits music festival. In 2015, Shakey Graves released the album, Nobody’s Fool. On February 9, 2015, the mayor of Austin, Texas proclaimed it “Shakey Graves Day” in honor of the musician. Later in 2015, Shakey Graves won an American Music Award for Best Emerging Artist. Shakey Graves live performances are characteristic of their old-school vibes, where the artist would formerly perform entirely by himself, he now has a trio of musicians backing him.
