The Los Angeles alternative rock band Silversun Pickups were local legends in their own right in Southern California before scoring a series of huge gigs that propelled them to worldwide stardom. The group, consisting of Brian Aubert on guitar and vocals, Nikki Monninger on bass, Christopher Guanlao on drums and Joe Lester comprise the unique blend of indie sensibilities and alternative rock grooves. After playing a series of gigs in the Los Angeles area over the course of the mid-2000s, the Silversun Pickups released their first EP in 2005, the six-song Pikul EP. With a unique musical sound that has sometimes been compared to The Smashing Pumpkins with plenty of guitar distortion, the band has certainly carved a niche for themselves and are one of the most exciting acts on the music scene today.

While the band's first EP did garner them a slew of new fans, it wasn't until the group's first full-length debut, Carnavas, that their popularity truly started to gain steam. Released in 2006, two of the album's singles, "Lazy Eye" and "Well Thought Out Twinkles," would climb into the top 10 of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in 2007 and would be the catalyst for the band scoring a major gig touring with Ok Go and Snow Patrol in 2007. The band also made the wise decision of playing at the Coachella Music Festival in 2007, which opened them up to fans of various genres, ranging from electronica to rock to hip-hop.

The Silversun Pickups' star truly began to soar in 2008 when the group released their second full-length album, Swoon. The record's first single, "Panic Switch," is easily the band's most well-known song and received plenty of airplay on pop and rock music stations. The album would debut at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and the single would peak at No. 92 on the Hot 100 and hit the top 10 on the Alternative Rock Tracks chart.

In mid-2012, the Silversun Pickups would release their third album, Neck of the Woods, which kicked off a series of summer touring at music festivals all over the country. The album would prove to be the band's most successful release yet, hitting No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and featured the singles "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)." After a series of huge appearances on the festival circuit, the group has launched a large-scale North American tour to promote their new album.
