Slightly Stoopid is a band from Ocean Beach, San Diego in California. Slightly Stoopid’s music has been described as a fusion of folk and reggae with blues, hip-hop, funk, metal and punk rock influences. Slightly Stoopid signed to Skunk Records and released their debut, punk influenced self-titled album in 1996. In 1998, Slightly Stoopid released the surf influenced album, The Longest Barrel Ride. In 2001, Slightly Stoopid released a 40 minute live acoustic recording from one of their shows titled Acoustic Roots: Live & Direct. In 2003, the band released a record with Surfdog Records titled Everything You Need. Slightly Stoopid began experimenting with many different musical styles, never quite settling on one sound. On their 2005 album, Closer to the Sun, Slightly Stoopid mixed together a variety of reggae influences. The band released a live CD/DVD in 2006, Winter Tour ’05-’06, which was their first electric live album.
In 2007, Slightly Stoopid released their breakthrough album, Chronchitis, which debuted at the number 55 position on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and number 2 on the indie charts. Slightly Stoopid toured extensively in support of the album’s release, playing a diverse range of music festivals because of their range of musical genres, including Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Harmony Festival, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, New Orleans Jazz Fest, as well as playing sold out shows in Australia, Japan, Guam, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and the Dominican Republic. In 2008, the band released Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid on their own label, Stoopid Records.
Slightly Stoopid’s seventh studio album release, Top of the World, was released in 2012, debuting at the number 13 position on Billboard Top 200 album charts. in 2015, Slightly Stoopid released the album, Meanwhile… Back at the Lab, followed by a large tour in support of the Album’s release. In 2015, Slightly Stoopid toured internationally, playing many sold out venues and music festivals around the world in support of their 2015 release, Meanwhile… Back at the Lab. During their 2015 tour, Slightly Stoopid played all of their classic and fan favorite songs as well as songs from their 2015 album. Slightly Stoopid live concerts are known for their engaging live performances, which range from high energy songs to chill reggae jams, as well as their diverse instrumentals which encompass a variety of musical styles and influences.
