Trailblazers of the heavy metal music scene since 1995, Slipknot is currently composed of seven members with two additional touring members although members have come and gone throughout the years. Musically, Slipknot is known for their down-tuned guitar setup, distinctive percussion section, and using samples and turntables in their music.
Perhaps most notable about the band though, is their image. Each member of the band has a unique mask and aliases which are simply numbers. According to the group, it’s their way of ridding themselves of their own identities and becoming a product of the music. Although the band has been the center of many controversies throughout the years, a desire for Slipknot tickets has remained constant. After a whirlwind journey through the late '90s and venturing into the 21st century, Slipknot still remains at the forefront of the heavy metal scene and is one of the most sought-after live performers in the business.
Slipknot All Hope is Gone World Tour
In support of the groups fourth album, the All Hope is Gone tour consisted of 153 shows from 2008-2009. Although the tour consisted of festivals, Slipknot headlined every performance. Critics took positive note of the bands energy and on-stage presence during their sets. The band was perhaps too energetic even as turntablist Sid Wilson broke both heels after jumping from the stage and had to perform the remainder of the tour in a wheelchair.
Slipknot Memorial World Tour
In honor of founding member Paul Gray who passed in May of 2010, Slipknot headed out for a 52 stop tour in 2011. The tour consisted mostly of festival dates and a small number of headlining appearances across Europe, South America, Australia, and North America. During the tour an effigy of Paul Gray stood on stage which included his mask, his jumpsuit and his bass guitar. Many Slipknot tickets were bought by fans to honor Gray.
