Sublime with Rome is the name of a new band formed from Sublime and singer Rome Ramirez who replaced Bradley Nowell after his death in 1996. Sublime with Rome performs primarily Sublime songs. Gaugh and Wilson started the Long Beach Dub All-stars in 1997, who also played primarily Sublime songs. The band Sublime, although only having released three official albums including 40oz to Freedom, Robbin’ the Hood, and Sublime, have influenced countless other musicians even long after Nowell’s death with their hit songs like “40 ounces to Freedom”, “Smoke Two Joints”, “Bad Fish”, “Date Rape”, “Steppin’ Razor”, “Santerita”, “Caress Me Down”, “Wrong Way”, “What I Got”, and many more songs which were written primarily by Nowell. Ramirez began performing with Bud Gaugh and Wilson in 2009, performing under the name Sublime, later changing it to Sublime with Rome following a lawsuit. Sublime and Rome played Smokeout Festival in 2009, which launched their touring career, despite Gaugh leaving the band in 2011.

After a long and drawn out lawsuit, Sublime with Rome was finally able to perform playing Sublime songs and tour using the Sublime moniker. After the dust settled from the lawsuit, Sublime with Rome was finally able to play all of the original sublime songs written by Bradley Nowell. In 2011, Sublime with Rome began writing and recording new Sublime songs with Rome Ramirez. Sublime with Rome’s debut album was released in 2011 and titled Yours Truly. Drummer Bud Gaugh left the band shortly after in order to spend more time with his family and remarked that he would not be returning.

Although Sublime with Rome was worried that they would not sound like Sublime without the original drummer, when Josh Freese joined the band Sublime with Rome was able to continue their tour. In 2015, Sublime with Rome released their second studio album, titled Sirens, and began touring extensively all around the US in support of the album’s release.
