Now known for his autotune hits, T-Pain (born Faheem Najm) started off by paying his dues with the rap group Nappy Headz in his home of Tallahassee, Florida. After hearing the Akon hit, "Locked Up," T-Pain decided to make his own version of the song dubbed, "I'm F**ked Up." Word began to spread about the track and it soon found its way to Akon who decided to take T-Pain under his wing and make him a solo recording artist. After signing a contract with Konvict Muzik, T-Pain went into the studio to work on his first album that he produced and wrote. Known for his brash and bold style and heavily-synthesized vocals, T-Pain has made a name for himself with plenty of club anthems and hip-hop hits to his credit.

Rappa Ternt Sanga proved to be a runaway hit for T-Pain that launched him to the top of the hip-hop charts and onto the radar of music fans. The single, "I'm Sprung," climbed to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart and helped him grab the attention of other artists who wanted to collaborate with him. His second single, "I'm N Luv (Wit a Stripper)," was recorded with rapper Mike Jones and reached No. 5 on the Hot 100.

In 2007, T-Pain's second album Epiphany was a huge success and reached the No. 1 spot and sold 171,000 copies during its first week. It featured hit singles like "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')," "Bartender" featuring Akon and "Church." In addition to the impressive sales of his new album, T-Pain collaborated with myriad artists, including Fabolous, T.I., Chris Brown and Kanye West. T-Pain and Kanye West's track, "Good Life," won a Grammy award in 2008 for Best Rap Song.

T-Pain's next album, Thr33 Rings, managed to reach No. 4 on the Billboard 200 charts and featured a slew of new collaborators. T-Pain's three hit singles, "Can't Believe It" with Lil Wayne, "Chopped and Screwed" with Ludacris and "Freeze" featuring Chris Brown, showed that his style could translate to varying forms of hip-hop.

With the success of T-Pain's fourth studio album, rEVOLVEr, the artist has built a reputation as a quality solo artist, and he seems to be at his best when he's working with the greatest minds in hip-hop and R&B.
