Taking Back Sunday, the alternative rock band from Long Island, New York, was formed in 1999 by guitarist Eddie Reyes. In addition to Eddie Reyes, Taking Back Sunday includes lead vocalist Adam Lazzara, backing vocalist and guitarist John Nolan, bassist Shaun Cooper and drummer Mark O’Connell. Prior to forming Taking Back Sunday, Eddie Reyes performed in several different hardcore bands in the Long Island area, including Mind Over Matter and The Movielife. Taking Back Sunday’s first hit single was “Great Romances of the 20th Century”. The band signed to Victory Records in 2001 and released their debut album, Tell All Your Friends, in 2002 and produced Taking Back Sunday’s hit singles, “Cute Without the E (Cut from the Team)”, “You’re So Last Summer”, and their lead single, “Great Romances of the 20th Century”. In 2004, Taking Back Sunday opened for the popular band Blink 182 and performed on The Vans Warped Tour.
That same year, the band released their second album, Where You Want to Be. This album included Taking Back Sunday’s hit song, “A Decade Under the Influence”, which helped the album reach the number 3 position on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts. Taking Back Sunday’s third album, Louder Now, was released in 2006 with the major record label, Warner Bros. Records. The album featured several of the band’s popular hit single “What’s It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?”. The band toured extensively in support of their new album release appeared on several late night talk shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimme lLive! And Late Night WithConan O’Brien. Later that year, Taking Back Sunday released their first DVD documentary, Louder Now, which included footage fro several of their recent concerts.
Taking Back Sunday released their highly anticipated fourth studio album, New Again, in 2008 and toured extensively in support of the album, including performances headlining music festivals such as The Bamboozle, Kerrang! And Sonisphere Festival in the UK. 2011 saw the release of Taking Back Sunday’s album, Taking Back Sunday. The band embarked upon the 10 year anniversary of their album, Tell All Your Friends in 2012, playing at stadiums all over the U.S. with support of the band Bayside. In 2014, Taking Back Sunday released one of their most popular albums yet, titled Happiness Is. In 2016, Taking Back Sunday performed at venues and music festivals all of the U.S. during performances on their 2016 tour, Taking Back Sunday performed a variety of their hit songs from all of their albums, including “Cute Without the E (Cut from the Team)”, “You’re So Last Summer”, “Great Romances of the 20th Century” and many more.
