Globe Life Park Ticket Information
After the 1971 season, the Washington Senators gained approval to move to Texas and arrived in Arlington in 1972 just in time for players strike. Under a new name, the Rangers began to play in Arlington Stadium, a venue originally designed to be a multi-purpose facility for the Dallas-Fort Worth area but was currently being used as a minor league stadium. The team would spend the next several decades at the ballpark, which would be expanded in later years to hold more than 40,000 fans. For years, the stadium was considered the hottest place in the majors and most of its games were played at night to beat the 100-degree temperatures. In 1993, the Rangers moved into their current venue, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, which improved on its predecessor in nearly every way. The stadium then took on a name change in 2014 becoming Globe Life Park.
Globe Life Park is filled to the brim with modern amenities that many Rangers fans hadn't known throughout the history of Arlington Stadium. The granite and brick facade was a huge aesthetic improvement and paid homage to the grand ballparks of the league's past. Outside, fans can walk along the Rangers Walk of Fame, lined with commemorative plaques that highlight the greatest moments in team history. There is also a 12-acre lake outside of the stadium named after late Rangers broadcaster Mark Holtz. This area has become a popular spot for families to enjoy a picnic before the first pitch.
Upon entering the stadium, fans are greeted by the 17,000-square-foot Rangers museum and children's center that is open year-round to the public. Along with all the standard concessions, shops, and other modern amenities, fans can enjoy myriad new LED video boards, a cutting-edge sound system, and an LED ribbon display that uses more than 800 LCD monitors that wrap around the stadium and display various forms of multimedia.
After winning the American League pennant in 2010 and 2011, the Rangers have reached the top of the baseball world and have the World Series championship in their sites. The team has done a remarkable job building a talented roster in the ultra-competitive American League West that seems to get better each year. The Rangers have also won each of their six division championships at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, which is partly due to the immense talent on the field, as well as the beautiful modern venue that has amplified the Rangers' impact on the national stage.
