Chicago Open Air is ready for its second outing in as many years, and after the outstanding success of last year, 2017 should turn out to be even bigger and better. Held in the expansive Toyota Park - a soccer stadium in Bridgeview, IL, around twelve miles out of downtown Chicago - Chicago Open Air should see large crowds gather around the two stages over the three-day event, which will run from July 14-16. This event is specifically for metal and hard rock fans, as demonstrated by last year’s lineup, and this year will be much the same. Last year’s lineup included the only live show in the US from industrial metal behemoth Rammstein - who headlined on the first night - and an exclusive first outing of the track “Rotting in Vain”, from nu-metal pioneers Korn. Other acts that played were; Ministry; Hollywood Undead; Meshuggah; Hatebreed; Butcher Babies; Disturbed; Alter Bridge; Gojira; Carcass; Slipknot; Marilyn Manson; Killswitch Engage; Babymetal and Letlive.
As well as the two stages, there will be plenty going on around the site. There will be a wide range of food vendors, serving up gourmet everything - from burgers to pizza, mexican, grilled cheese sandwiches and burrito bowls. There are a wide range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options too. Beverages are also wide ranging, and surely lots should be sampled, though be careful in the heat of course! Local brewers and special drafts of beer from around the US are showcased, as well as the unique Headbangers Bier Hall, where you can grab a metal themed drink in a pop up dive bar catering only to fans of the best music genre. Also around the site are places to get merchandise, practice your live music skills and even potentially meet your favorite artists. There will also be a few stalls where you can show your support for charities, so you can still do your good deed whilst visiting. Chicago Open Air tickets for the three-day weekend as well as individual days and VIP packages are available.
