Since its first summer in 2009, Free Press Summer Festival has featured a diverse lineup each year including some of the world’s most popular artists such as The National, Jack White, Weezer, Skrillex, Bassnectar, The Avett Brothers, Wu-Tang Clan, Willie Nelson and many more. With more than 55 acts spread over four stages, this two-day festival in Houston, Texas, is any music-lover’s dream.
The 2017 Free Press Summer Fest will be the ninth annual Free Press Summer Fest, and as always it is going to be one of the biggest events in Texas this summer. The popular two-day festival is scheduled to return to downtown Eleanor Tinsley Park on June 3-4, 2017.
2018 Free Press Summer Fest Preview
This year’s lineup is obviously aimed at the younger audience: it’s heavy on EDM, electronic pop, R&B, hip-hop and trap, and indie-rock while hard rock, punk, metal, roots music or '80s hit included at the last festival are virtually absent from the list. Among the headliners are Houston native Solange, Lorde, Flume, G-Eazy, Cage the Elephant and the Shins. Other performances include FPSF veterans Tove Lo, The Man, Carnage, Lil Uzi Vert, Jon Bellion, Jauz, Grouplove, Milky Chance, DVBBS, Big K.R.I.T., and the Strumbellas. The 2017 headline is a pretty serious one with three headliners who just won Grammy awards — Flume for Best Dance/Electronic Album (Skin), Solange for Best R&B Performance (“Cranes In the Sky”), and Cage the Elephant for Rock Album (Tell Me I'm Pretty).
