KROQ Weenie Roast is an annual day of live music held and presented by the radio station KROQ-FM. It’s been running from 1993, and for the first time since 2000, it will be held in a new venue. With the exception of one event (2000), every KROQ Weenie was held at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, but the arena was torn down last year. This year, the event will be held in the StubHub Center in Carson. This venue is bigger, and is due for expansion. This is only good news for the iconic music celebration that is KROQ Weenie Roast. Past lineups have included artists such as Terence Trent D’Arby, The Violent Femmes, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Garbage, The Cure, The Chemical Brothers, Radiohead, Blink-182, Korn, Moby, Kings of Leon, Spoon, Coldplay, Avicii, Muse and Weezer. It’s a diverse day of live music, with most of it being alternative, as the station is famous for playing.
The day will be hosted by KROQ-FM’s DJs, and the station will broadcast live from there, so be sure to make your voice heard loud when you visit. There are also numerous other activities to take part in and places to see, so while the sun is shining, enjoy everything on offer. There will be stalls of merchandise, as well as local vendors selling their goods and crafts, as well as a host of different places to eat food and find some shade with a cold beer or a popsicle. The venue is huge, and will provide all the facilities you need, including parking, refreshments and plenty of space to chill out. All ages are welcome too, so make it a family day out.
There will be one main stage this year, which is a little different to previous years, but this means that there are more great artists that will get to showcase their music, and it means that you are free to keep your favorite spot in the stadium all day without missing any of the music. There are various ticket options depending on where you want to get your seat, and there are VIP boxes available too, which give you the absolute best view of everything.
