The Summerfest Music Festival
The Summerfest music festival takes over Milwaukee’s 75-acre Henry Maier Festival Park annually for eleven days out of the summer. Since the festivals inception in 1968 the festival has usually included the Fourth of July holiday. Summerfest houses 11 stages for over 700 bands to perform on and is usually filled with local Milwaukee food vendors. Each year the Festivities attract anywhere from 800,000 to a million people earning its title as “The World’s Largest Music Festival” according to the Guinness World Records since 1999.
Summerfest, or “The Big Gig” as it sometimes referred to, also includes some of the best comedic performances, shopping vendors, family activities, and “The Big Bang” which is a fireworks show that happens on July 3rd. The Marcus Amphitheater is one of the 11 stages used for the band performances and the only stage setting that is not included in the admission tickets. Admission into the Marcus Theater for a headlining band ranges from 8 to 16 US Dollars. All other shows are offered from noon to midnight on the other stages.
With previous acts like Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty & the Heartbreaker’s, The Jonas Brother, Tina Turner, Christina Aguilera, and Kanye West there is no limit to what bands you can see at the Summerfest.
