Golf Ticket Information

PGA Tour ticket prices fluctuate for many reasons. The prestige of a tournament, like The Masters, can have a solidifying impact on ticket prices, but are not exempt from other factors. In 2017 the average ticket price for a single round to The Masters rang in at $1,437 and a four-day badge averaged at $4750. Ticket prices for the Masters had started to decline since the decline of Tiger Woods. However, with the emergence of a new big three in golf, with Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Bubba Watson, ticket prices have started to increase. The average cost of a four-day 2018 Masters Badge is at $3,195 while single day badges start out at $1,400.

Player impact on ticket prices in the PGA is arguably one of the most influential in all of sports, but a secondary factor that is more centralized to golf tournaments is specific rounds. More often than not, first round tickets will generally have a slightly lower ticket average than later rounds. Tickets to the second round of the 2017 Masters Tournament came in at $1,460, almost $200 higher than the second round a year ago.

The Masters Tournament carries one of the most recognizable brands in golf and as such its average ticket price remains as the highest on the PGA Tour, regardless of who plays or doesn’t play. Though they are not nearly as prestigious, the PGA Championship, which currently carries a $163 average ticket price, and the US Open offer a great opportunity to see some of the best in the PGA at a much lesser price while embracing a history that’s all their own. The US Open golf tournament is also a popular PGA Event. The US Open saw a slight decrease for four-day badge prices this year, as prices dropped from $430 in 2016, to $375 in 2017.

Another great way to catch some of your favorite golfers with a more reasonable price tag is to attend practice rounds. While all the excitement of the competition is absent, the atmosphere is still all about golf. The 2017 Masters has practice round tickets averaging out at $475 for Monday, $593 for Tuesday, and $1,000 on Wednesday which also includes the par-3 competition. Other tournaments such as the Shell Houston Open or the Valero Texas Open also provide golf fans with great opportunities to experience the PGA at far less than attending the major tournaments.
