Presidents Cup Tickets Information

The Presidents Cup is a team golf event between the United States and the rest of the world, excluding Europe. It is similar to the Ryder Cup, which is also every two years and a team tournament, but the Presidents Cup is a much newer event, first teeing off in 1994. The event was created by the PGA Tour, and is scored by match play. There are singles and doubles matches, and are played by alternate shot and best ball formats. Each match is worth one point, and to win a Presidents cup you must with 17.5 points.

There have been 10 matches as of 2013, with the United States winning eight of them. The U.S. dominated the first ever Presidents Cup in 1994, but only four years later the International team won at the Royal Melbourne Golf Cup. Golfing legends are usually selected to captain the teams, and champions like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Greg Norman have all held the post for one of the teams. Fred Couples has been the captain of the U.S. team since 2009. There is no prize money awarded to either team, and the proceeds are given to charities selected by the players and captains. Phil Michelson has the most appearances in the tournament, as he has played in every single Presidents Cup as of 2013. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Presidents Cup golf tickets.

2015 Presidents Cup Preview

The 2015 Presidents Cup will be held in Incheon, South Korea at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club of Korea. This marks the first time that the Presidents Cup will be held in South Korea, and the first time that the tournament will be contested in Asia. Jay Haas has been chosen as the captain of the American squad, and he retains 3-time former captain Fred Couples as his vice-captain. Haas competed in 2 Presidents Cups as a player and has served as vice-captain under Fred Couples on multiple occasions. The United States squad looks to win the tournament for the 6th consecutive time, and for the 9th time in the 11 occasions that the Presidents Cup has been held. Leading the International team will be Nick Price, who served as the captain of the 2013 International Presidents Cup team. Price is a hall of fame golfer who has the experience and spunk that it will take to knock off the Americans in a competition that they have dominated. With the U.S. team struggling in the 2014 Ryder Cup, this may mark the year that the International team finally breaks through at the Presidents Cup.
