Houston Rodeo Tickets

The Houston Rodeo is 20 nights of heart pounding action, amazing music and fun. The concert lineup is what really drives the big crowds, because the HLS&R has the biggest names in music performing on the stage each night. The Houston Rodeo lineup is stacked with top musicians from country music, rock, Tejano and hip hop. Everyone from Beyonce to Willie Nelson have played the Houston Rodeo in recent years. Demand and ticket prices for the Houston Rodeo can be a varied as the lineup of performers.

The show that we typically sell the most tickets is Bun B's Southern Takeover, where tens of thousands of hip hop fans show up to see local star, Bun B, and his collection of special guests. Tejano Night at the Houston Rodeo is also huge in-terms of demand. The most popular headlining performers typically drive the highest ticket prices at the Houston Rodeo. It may be just $50 per ticket to "get in" for a regular evening, but on nights where a major star is performing that starting ticket price may rise as high as $200 per seat.

The Houston Rodeo includes championship rodeo action, a great concert, a livestock show, and the fair. A ticket include both the rodeo performance and the concert afterwards. Food, rides and Fairground activities are typically not included in the ticket price. Aside from the concerts, the top event at the Houston Rodeo is the World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest which includes 300+ BBQ teams competing for prizes over 3 days. There are also special event days that include Armed Forces Appreciation Day, Black Heritage Day, Go Tejano Day and Paint the Rodeo Pink Day. The Houston Rodeo started in 1931.

Check the start times on the day of your event, but on weekdays the gates at NRG usually open at 6pm with the rodeo starting at 6:45pm and the entertainer at 8:45pm. On weekends, the gates can open as early at 3pm, with the rodeo starting at 3:45pm and the entertainer taking the stage at approximately 5:45pm. These times may vary, or change, so you should check the event schedule on the day you are attending.

Fans attending the Houston Rodeo often will purchase a parking pass as the lots at NRG can fill up fast for the rodeo. Also attendees in recent years have complained about how difficult it is to get an Uber to go home at the end of the night.

The Houston Rodeo is the biggest rodeo in Texas but the Lone Star State is full of great ones. The next biggest rodeo is the San Antonio Rodeo which starts a month prior to Houston Rodeo. Others are the Austin Rodeo, Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and The American Rodeo (in Arlington, Texas). These days its no longer about just the long-time Texas rodeos, as the state also now hosts the PBR World Finals and has even hosted the NFR in recent years.

Houston Rodeo at NRG Stadium

Over 2 Million fans buy tickets each year to attend the Houston Rodeo. NRG Stadium is the venue that holds all of those rodeo fans. There are over 70,000 fans in attendance at NRG Stadium each night during the rodeo, and each of the last few years has set new attendance records.

The setup for the Houston Rodeo includes Roping & Bucking Chutes on each end of the arena located where the endzones would be for a football game. At the completion of the rodeo portion of the evening, there is a short intermission while the stage is moved out to the center of the dirt arena. The rodeo concerts are performed "in the round" which means the stage is open on all sides and the headliner will move around to face each areas of NRG at points during the concert.

There are many seating options for fans attending the Houston Rodeo. The best seats in the house at NRG Stadium are the Action Seats, which are the box seating located closest to the dirt. There are approximately 8 rows in section of the Action Seats which includes Sections 103-110 and 123-130. Those are positioned right in-front of the 100-level seating which includes Sections 101-140. The 100-level seating offers a terrific view and typically starts with Row A before running through Row JJ. The next level up is the 300-level seating which offers a decent view and includes Sections 301-356, with approximately 25 rows in each section. The top level at NRG Stadium includes the 500-level and 600-level seating, as well as, 700-level seating on the ends. The cheapest tickets for the Houston Rodeo are typically found in this top-tier, so budget conscious fans can shop for the best deals.
