2017 Colts Season Preview
The 2016 Indianapolis Colts Schedule is set and the Colts are looking to get back on track after failing to make the playoffs in 2015, their first time since 2011. Starting quarterback Andrew Luck will start his fifth season with the Colts healthy and ready to go after having an assortment of injuries in 2015. The success of the Colts 2016 season depends on Luck’s health as he leads the team’s offense. The Colts drafted center Ryan Kelly in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft to help give the team an offensive boost. The 2016 Colts season is sure to be exciting, and it will be interesting if the Colts can fight their way back and clinch the AFC South. TicketCity is the place to go for Indianapolis Colts tickets. Two of the more successful franchises since 2001, it comes as no surprise that this would be the most notable rivalry in the NFL. These two teams have combined for multiple Super Bowls and 6+ AFC Championships in the last 15 years. With three playoff matchups including two AFC Championship games, the stakes always seem to be at its highest when these two teams faceoff.
This rivalry has continued to get better over recent seasons as the Texans have improved as a football team. With both teams playing in the same division, games are often more intense in their two matchups then the other games they play throughout the season.
The Colts and Titans are the two most successful franchises in the division, and this rivalry has become one of the best in the NFL over the years because the stakes are usually at its highest when these two teams play. The two teams have combined for more than 8 AFC South titles to go along with many more playoff appearances over the last 10+ years.
The first game between these two franchises dates back to 1995, but the rivalry took off when both teams were placed in the same division in 2002 after NFL realignment. Over the years the teams have played in highly competitive games that often left tempers flaring when the play was over. By playing two times a year, the stakes are often at its highest when the teams meet and the Colts vs Jaguars rivalry will only continue to get better in the years to come.
Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl, AFC Championship and NFL Playoffs
This rivalry has picked up steam over the last few seasons with the Texans improving in the win column. With these two teams competing two times a year, it is only natural for there to be a love/hate relationship. As a result of being in the same division, the intensity is usually higher when these two teams meet.
2015 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
The Indianapolis Colts had their best season since 2009 in 2014, falling just one game short of reaching the Super Bowl. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has continued to evolve into one of the best passers in the game, and is among the most feared throwers in the AFC. Where the Colts offense has been stellar in the passing game, they have struggled mightily running the ball. To sure up their running game in 2015, Indianapolis picked up veteran rusher Frank Gore, who should be able to mentor the talented, but young Daniel Herron. The Colts will be also looking for improved play on the defensive side of the ball, with the team drafting 5 defensive players in the 2015 NFL draft, including D’Joun Smith, one of the drafts most talented corners. Key departures from the Indianapolis Colts roster includes longtime star Reggie Wayne. Don’t’ expect the loss to slow down Andrew Luck and Ty Hilton’s aerial assault, and for the Colts to run through what should be a weak AFC South division in 2015.
2014 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
The Colts franchise rests on the shoulders of their quarterback once again, and Andrew Luck has begun looking like he was worth every bit of that No. 1 overall pick. Luck threw for 23 TDs and almost 4,000 yards in 2013, and he’s expected to be even better this time around. The Colts added Hakeem Nicks to his receiving corps, who is poised to break out after having a bad 2013 with the Giants. The Colts had a very good overall season last year, winning 11 games and miraculously coming from behind to beat the Chiefs in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The Colts will start the season against a familiar face when they travel to Denver to face Peyton Manning on the Broncos. The first home game will be in Week 2 when the Eagles comes into town, and they’ll also welcome in the Titans, Ravens, and Bengals through October. The Colts will get their rematch against the Patriots in Week 11, and beating the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season would go a long way in securing another berth in the postseason.
2013 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
The future is bright in Indianapolis with quarterback Andrew Luck entering his second season in the NFL. Though the Colts said goodbye to long time defensive stalwart Dwight Freeney, they added many pieces on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football. The Colts’ 2013 NFL Draft was headlined by Florida State linebacker Bjoern Werner, who will give Indianapolis a young, dynamic pass rushing threat. The running back corps was strengthened by the signing of two-time Super Bowl champ Ahmad Bradshaw, formerly of the New York Giants. Perhaps most importantly for the Colts, head coach Chuck Pagano will be back on the sidelines this season. Pagano was absent for most of the 2012 season while battling cancer, but remained an inspiration even when he wasn’t on the sidelines. The 2013 season should bring even better fortunes for the Colts than they saw in 2012 when they recorded an 11-5 record.
2011 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
With a Super Bowl victory, and nine straight playoff appearances, few teams have been as consistent as the Indianapolis Colts over the last decade. Despite questions about their defense and running game, the Colts still manage to be among the best teams in the AFC, and 2011 should be no different. The biggest reason for the Colts' success over the last 10 years has been quarterback Peyton Manning. He will be back again this season and although he is coming off one of his worst seasons, chances are he will still be among the elite quarterbacks in the league. He is helped by a number of reliable targets including Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. Joseph Addai has also emerged as a solid option out of the backfield. The defense is often the biggest weakness of the Colts, and while that might be the case again this year, that's not to say that this squad is bad. The Indianapolis defense has a number of playmakers in the secondary, most notably free safety Antoine Bethea. Up front, the Colts will rely on the leadership of veterans Gary Brackett and Dwight Freeney.
2010 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
The Indianapolis Colts were painfully close to their second Super Bowl championship in five years last season, but an ill-timed interception by Peyton Manning sealed the victory for the New Orleans Saints. Manning and the Colts look to continue their decade-long string of success in 2010, and all signs indicate that they will likely be a contender once again. Manning, who is coming off his league-record fourth MVP award, will certainly continue to be one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, and he is joined by a talented cast of players on the offense. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne and tight end Dallas Clark were once again the leading targets for Manning, but rookie Austin Collie had a breakout season last year, and relative unknown Pierre Garcon proved to have big play ability as well. Anthony Gonzalez will be returning from an injury suffered last year to round out a loaded arsenal in Indianapolis. If there's one area in Indianapolis that's typically been a weak spot it's been the defense. However, as of late they have quelled a lot of the criticism thanks to the production of defensive end Dwight Freeney. Colts fans will be celebrating the return of safety Bob Sanders as well, as he played in just two games last year due to injury.
2009 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
The Indianapolis Colts return a ton of talent heading in the 2009 season. With Peyton Manning leading the offense the Colts will once again be a lot of experts' pick for the top team in the AFC. On offense Manning will be joined by running back Joseph Addai, TE Dallas Clark, WR Anthony Gonzalez and star wide receiver Reggie Wayne. The only ingredient Indy will be missing on offense is wide receiver Marvin Harrison who is no longer with the team. On defense the Colts will have superstars Dwight Freeney and Bob Sanders to help lead them to the promise land. Don't sleep on the Colts in 2009; they should once again be one of the top teams in the NFL.
2008 Indianapolis Colts Season Preview
The Indianapolis Colts sit at the very top of the NFL this season. Led by a lightning fast defense, future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, and the running of Joseph Addai, the Indianapolis Colts are one of the obvious Super Bowl contenders. The team is built on a strong foundation that should keep them in contention for years to come. A game this year at the RCA Dome, or even anywhere on the road, is a display of tremendous talent and will likely have the Colts coming out on top. This season every football fan waits to see whether the Colts or their talented new rivals, the New England Patriots, will come out on top in the AFC.
