There are few cities more famous than Las Vegas. The City of Sin has its place firmly etched in pop culture lexicon and has led people to fly in across the country just to spend a weekend in its never-resting glow. While most people associate the resort city with lavish casinos, there is much more to the desert location and there is plenty to do besides gambling.
Although it does not have a major professional sports team, that's not to say there aren't plenty of athletic events to catch in Las Vegas. The city is also home to a relatively long-running post-season college game, the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas. This game has been played at Sam Boyd Stadium since the early '90s, and attracts some of the biggest teams in the NCAA including BYU, California and Arizona.
Of course, it just wouldn't be a trip to Vegas without taking in a show or two. The city has some of the most luxurious venues in the world, which have hosted a veritable who's who of stars. The MGM Grand Garden Arena has hosted a large number of huge concerts from Jimmy Buffett, to Billy Joel to Cher.
Additionally, a trip to Vegas wouldn't be complete without going down the famous Las Vegas Strip. Lined with opulent buildings, this iconic stretch of road has plenty to offer in terms of entertainment. Caesars Palace offers a permanent show from Canadian crooner Celine Dion, which features about 70 yearly performances from the singer at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The famous venue has hosted similar shoes in the past including stints from Elton John, Bette Midler and Rod Stewart.
Once you've had your fill of all the glitz and glamour, Las Vegas offers plenty of ways to unwind including the beautiful Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens as well as the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, which provides a unique look at what Vegas was before it became the mover and shaker you visit today.
