Chase Field Information

Chase Field was completed in 1998 to house one of the newest teams in Major League Baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The towering structure is one of the few venues in the MLB with a retractable roof, which uses two 200-horsepower engines and more than four miles of cable to open or close in only four and a half minutes. With a capacity of 48,569, the ballpark has ample seating and spectacular sightlines that allow fans to get a great view of the action. Chase Field is also the first and only ballpark in the Majors to feature a pool. Located behind the fence in right-center field, the pool seats are some of the most sought-after tickets on the market and they have been the recipient of countless home run balls over the years.

The designers of Chase Field wanted to eliminate any obstructed views, and amazingly, nearly 85 percent of the ballpark's seats are located between the foul poles. The ballpark is also home to one of the most impressive video boards in all of the professional sports. The giant video board is located in the center field and is the widest display system in the MLB. Measuring 136 feet wide and 46 feet tall, the high-definition LED board can produce up to 4.4 trillion colors. Additionally, in 2007, the Diamondbacks installed an LED ribbon display that circles around the entire second deck of the stadium. At 1,119 feet, it is one of the largest in Major League Baseball.

As one of the largest structures in downtown Phoenix, Chase Field is surrounded by a plethora of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs that fans can enjoy before and after the game. The building is also linked up to Phoenix's public transportation system and also offers approximately 18,600 parking spaces within a 15-minute walk of the ballpark.

Chase Field was the site of the Diamondback's first and only World Series title in 2001 when the squad knocked off the heavily-favored New York Yankees. Since then, the team has extensively scouted new players and now field one of the youngest and most talented teams in the National League. After winning their division in 2011, the Diamondbacks have set their sights on recapturing their previous World Series magic and bringing another title home to the Phoenix faithful.

Fenway Park Venue Guide

  • Location: Boston, Massachusetts
  • Address: 4 Jersey Street
  • Capacity: 37,730
  • Preceded By: Huntington Avenue Baseball Grounds
  • Year Opened: 1912
  • Occupants: Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox began in 1901 as the Boston Americans and played until 1912 in the Huntington Avenue Grounds. It was the site of the first World Series between the National League and American League in 1903 and was the site of the first modern perfect game by Cy Young in 1904. The Americans changed their name to the Red Sox in 1908 and opened Fenway Park in 1912. When it opened, the park seated 35,000 people, which has since expanded to close to 40,000 attendees. Located in the heart of downtown Boston, Fenway Park is one of the original urban ballparks and has become a fixture in the Massachusetts capitol.

Fenway Park is surrounded by a bevy of restaurants and bars that are always a hotbed of activity before game days. The venue is within walking distance of Boston's Green Line subway system, and public transportation is often the best way to go. Unless fans would like to try their hand at parking near Fenway, where there are a number of lots and garages in the area surrounding the ballpark.

Over the course of its history, Fenway Park has seen its fair share of improvements to keep it up with the times. In the late 80s, club seats were constructed in the old press box and now form an extensive set of exclusive seating in the mezzanine behind home plate. In 2003, the Red Sox added seating to the top of the Green Monster, a 37-foot-high wall in left field that has cost many hitters home runs over the years. Other than a few touch-ups and other modern improvements, Fenway Park remains largely unchanged 100 years later.

In 2012, Fenway Park celebrated its centennial and joins Wrigley Field as the only ballparks in the Major Leagues that have been continuously running for a century. Over the course of its illustrious history, Fenway Park was the site of the Red Sox's early titles in 1916 and 1918, but it would be 86 years until the team would win the title in 2004, and again since then. Today Fenway is the host of Red Sox games, many top outdoor concerts, including Pearl Jam, and even a handful of college football games. With amazing fans and a unique atmosphere, seeing a game at Fenway Park should be on any baseball fan's bucket list and is guaranteed to be a memorable experience.
