Alex Rios hit for the cycle in the game while Derek Holland pitched a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts. In game two, the Astros took a 1-0 lead in the first but the Rangers struck back by scoring in three consecutive innings, capped off by an Adrian Beltre home run. Game three had some hope for the Astros after a three-run 4th inning, but the Rangers scored five in the bottom of the inning that starter with a bases-clearing double from Leonys Martin.
August 19-21, 2013 at Rangers Ballpark (Arlington, TX)
Rangers sweep -- 15-6, 4-2, 5-4 The Rangers busted into this one early, scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning behind two bad errors from Matt Dominguez and Jonathan Villar. In game two, Adrian Beltre smashed a line drive into the right field seats off Jared Cosart to take a 3-2 lead that the Rangers would not give up. In the final game, the Astros made a comeback in the 8th inning, scoring two runs to tie the game on a single and a HBP. Astros reliever Chia-Jen Lo have up a single and two walks before hitting Elvis Andrus in the bottom of the ninth to bring in the winning run for the Rangers.
August 9-12, 2013 at Minute Maid Park (Houston, TX)
Rangers sweep 4-0 -– 9-5, 5-4, 6-1, 2-1 In game one, Jason Castro put the Astros in the lead with a HR in the 2nd inning, but the biggest inning was the 8th where the Rangers scored four runs to take a 7-4 lead they would not give back. Game two was all Astros early on, leading 2-0 going into the sixth inning before the Rangers knocked out the starter and took advantage of the weak Astros bullpen to win 5-4. Game three was dominated by Martin Perez for Texas, throwing a complete-game while allowing only one run. The Rangers score two runs in the 1st inning in game 4, and that was enough for Yu Darvish. Davish took a no-hitter into the 7th inning and finished with 15 strikeouts to complete the series sweep.
