The Braves franchise is one of the oldest in professional baseball, tracing its roots back to 1876. As the Boston Braves, the franchise constructed some excellent teams but won just one World Series in 1914. A move to Milwaukee in 1953 brought newfound success for the franchise. After winning 92 games its first year in Milwaukee, the Braves won their second World Series in 1957 on the back of Hank Aaron and his 44 home runs. Milwaukee returned to the World Series the following season, but lost to the Yankees in seven games. The Braves moved to Atlanta in the mid-1960s, and experienced their greatest success starting in the 1990s, when Bobby Cox was returned to manage the team for a second time. Atlanta reached back-to-back World Series in Cox’s first two years back on the job, but failed to take home the title in either. In 1995 the Braves won their third World Series in franchise history, riding a fearsome starting rotation of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Jon Smoltz. Starting that season, the Braves would win 11 straight NL East titles, winning the one World Series and playing in two more. The Braves have retired the numbers of 10 former players and managers. 2016 Braves Season Preview
The Atlanta Braves missed the postseason for a second straight season a year ago, struggling in one of baseball’s toughest divisions. The young Braves may still be a few years away from returning to the top of the NL East, but there is reason to believe that they are moving in the right direction, and plenty of reason to watch this season. The biggest new face in Atlanta’s lineup is Ender Inciarte, who comes over after hitting .303 and driving in 45 RBI’s a season ago. Inciarte should add some much needed pop to the Atlanta Braves offense, which it was so desperately lacking a year ago. To sure up the Braves 2016 rotation, Atlanta brought in Bud Norris, and Matt Wisler, which should help give the Braves 5 solid options at the top of their rotation. The Atlanta Braves have a fanatic following, and Braves tickets should still be in high demand in 2016. Look for an exciting Atlanta Braves team to make progress in 2016 and move closer to being a contender.

Braves vs. Mets
Though the rivalry between these two NL East clubs goes back to the 1960s, it only really became heated in the last two decades. With realignment in the early 1990s, these two teams became divisional foes for the first time. By the late 1990s it was clear the Mets and Braves were the class of the division and it led to many contentious battles for supremacy. This has been one of the better matchups in the National League, and both teams are always loaded with star talent.
Braves vs. Cubs
This rivalry is between the two oldest clubs in MLB history. The Braves are first credited with being a major league team all the way back in 1871 and the Cubs came around not too long after in 1874. Both are founding members of the National League and have played over 2000 times since 1901. If you are a fan of history or just love great baseball, this is a rivalry that you don’t want to miss.
Atlanta Braves in the World Series, National League Championship Series and MLB Playoffs
The Atlanta Braves went on a 15-year run that has not been duplicated in Major League Baseball. Other than the strike-shortened season in 1994, the Braves won their division every year starting in 1991. The historic streak ended in 2005 and was highlighted with five NL pennants and a World Series title in 1995. The organization has also won over 17 division titles and will only continue to add to that number in the upcoming years.
