The Red Sox have an illustrious baseball history, starting play as the Boston Americans back in 1901. Armed with one of the best pitchers in baseball history, Cy Young, Boston won the World Series in their third Major League season. That would be just the tip of the iceberg for the Red Sox, as they would go on to win the World Series again in 1912, 1915, 1916 and 1918, the last three of which were won with the help of Babe Ruth. After Ruth was sold to the Yankees, the Red Sox went 85 years without another World Series title. Not winning a championship didn’t mean that the Sox didn’t put together strong teams. Ted Williams brought Boston to the World Series in 1946 and Carl Yastrzemski reached the World Series in 1967 and 1975. Roger Clemens and Wade Boggs nearly won the World Series in 1986, but a ground ball got by Boston first baseman Bill Buckner in Game 6 against the Mets and ultimately cost the Sox the championship. The Curse of the Bambino was finally lifted in 2004, when Boston captured the franchise’s sixth World Series victory. In 2007 the Sox added their seventh championship. The Red Sox have retired the numbers of seven former players and managers. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Boston Red Sox baseball tickets.
2015 Red Sox Season Preview
A year following their historic World Series championship, the Boston Red Sox were riddled with injuries, and struggled throughout the 2014 MLB Season. The trade of Jon Lester mid-season, marked the end of an era for the Red Sox. But despite losing 91 games in 2014, the Boston Red Sox enter the 2015 season looking like one of the top contenders in the American League.
In the offseason, the Boston Red Sox ensured that World Series hero Kohi Uehara would be in Boston for the next few seasons, and brought in Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez to sure up what looks to be one of the top infields in the majors. The addition of Rick Porcello and Justin Masterson to the Boston Red Sox starting rotation, and Robbie Ross and Alexi Ogando in the bullpen, give the Boston Red Sox a pitching staff that looks solid enough to win games in October. The 2015 Boston Red Sox look to be the class of the AL East once again and should be the favorites to win the division in 2015.

Red Sox vs. Orioles
When people think of rivalries in the AL East, they often stop after Red Sox Yankees. The Red Sox rivalry with the Orioles is not on the same caliber as the Yankees, but that does not mean that it should be overlooked. The Orioles recent emergence from over a decade of mediocrity has put the matchup between these two traditional clubs in a more important place. The Red Sox and Orioles have been divisional rivals for over 60 years and have two of the best ballparks in the country.
Boston Red Sox in the World Series, American League Championship Series and MLB Playoffs
As one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball history, the Boston Red Sox have created a legacy that is hard to match. The Red Sox dominated baseball throughout the first two decades of the 1900s. The organization won 5 World Series times during that span before they sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1918.
