The Chicago White Sox Playoff history dates back to the early 1906. In only the 6th season of existence, the Chicago White Sox reached their first ever MLB Postseason. In what would be the only all-Chicago World Series to date, the White Sox dominated their crosstown rival Cubs to win the franchise’s first World Series Title. The success of that first Chicago White Sox playoff team helped expand the teams fan base throughout Chicago and across the country.
The team would return to the playoffs in 1917, and would once again win the World Series, making it 2-2 in Fall Classic’s. But the early playoff success for the White Sox was not destined to last. From 1917-2004, the White Sox would only make 5 playoff appearances, and would not win a single playoff series. That luck would change in 2005 when the White Sox had one of the most dominating performances in MLB Post-season history, losing only 1 game in 3 playoff series. The 3 playoff series victories surpassed the franchises total from before 2005 and brought the White Sox their first title since 1917.
