DC United was established in 1996 and is one of the 10 charter members of the MLS. The club ranks among the most successful franchises in the history of American soccer, having won multiple MLS Cup's and appearing numerous times in the MLS Playoffs. Washington DC is an international city, which means there are lots of soccer fans living there and big soccer matches playing in the area often. DC United has a rabid following and is consistently among the top teams in attendance numbers in American soccer. The biggest game on the DC United's schedule each season is their annual rivalry game with the New York Red Bulls. Demand for Atlantic Cup tickets versus NY are always in big demand. The other big match-ups for DC include their games against Eastern Conference powers from Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and New England. Other popular matches are whenever the Los Angeles FC, NY FC, Portland Timbers or Seattle Sounders play in DC.
