The American Airlines Center is a multi-purpose arena in downtown Dallas that was opened in 2001. It is owned by the City of Dallas and is the premiere spot for live events in the Metroplex. The AAC can hold up to 19,200 seated falls for basketball and 21,000 fans for concerts.
The building replaced the tired old Reunion Arena that the teams had used since the 1980s with a state-of-the-art facility that features high-tech sound and P.A. systems, high definition video boards, more than 18,000 seats and an extensive cooling system that can keep ice frozen in the hot Texas climate. The arena sits in a developing area of town called Victory, which was once populated by rail yards and power plants - the American Airlines Center is just one of many new construction projects that have sparked the renewal of urban areas surrounding downtown Dallas. The arena is just one of many new projects going up in the Victory development that will change the landscape of downtown Dallas.

Sports at the American Airlines Center
The Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks have called the American Airlines Center home since construction was finished in 2001. The Stars moved to Texas in 1994 from Minnesota and soon became one of the hottest tickets in town. The area hosted games 3, 4 and 5 of the 2011 NBA Finals, which the Mavericks went on to win. It has also hosted the NHL All-Star Game, Professional Bull Riding and UFC events.
Concerts at the American Airlines Center
The American Airlines Center has also become the preferred concert venue for Dallas, Texas, and it attracts hundreds of acts each year. Big names such as Radiohead, Linkin Park, The Rolling Stones and many more have played the big stage and the arena's stunning acoustics make it a natural fit for large concerts. The venue was named the 2006 Concert Venue of the Year by Pollstar Magazine and the Top Dog Venue of the Year by Tour Guide Magazine in 2003.

The best way to get to the venue if you are not driving is the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). Victory Station is only seconds away from American Airlines Center, and you can reach the station on the Green Line.
