The Baltimore Ravens joined the NFL in 1996 after the Cleveland Browns left behind their history and became an expansion team in Baltimore. The Ravens immediately started building a winner in its very first NFL Draft, selecting UCLA offensive lineman Jonathan Ogden and Miami linebacker Ray Lewis—two players who will ultimately join the Hall-of-Fame. After being shutout from the playoffs for their first four seasons, the Ravens finally made the playoffs in 2000. With Ray Lewis leading the defense and rookie running back Jamal Lewis carrying the offense, the Ravens knocked off the New York Giants to win Super Bowl XXXV. Since its Super Bowl run, Baltimore has been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL. The Ravens have made the playoffs nine times in the last 13 years, including another Super Bowl title in 2012. The Ravens’ Ring of Honor includes eight Baltimore Colts who are enshrined in the Hall-of-Fame, as well as six Ravens and deceased owner Art Modell. 2016 Ravens Season Preview

One of the biggest surprises of the 2014 season was the breakout year from Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett. After years as a backup, Forsett stormed into the starting role in 2014, rushing for more than 5 yards per carry and over 1,200 yards overall. The Baltimore Ravens fell just short of defeating the Super Bowl Champion Patriots in the playoffs, and will look to take the final step towards another Super Bowl title in 2015. To help them get there, the Ravens drafted talented wide receiver Breshard Perriman to play opposite of Steve Smith. The 2015 Baltimore Ravens defense will also receive plenty of new talent with the addition of Kyle Arrington, Carl Davis, and Za’Darius Smith. The AFC North will likely be one of the best divisions in the NFL again in 2015, and the Ravens will be right in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt once again.

With multiple playoff matchups and classic regular season games including the Ravens almost defeating the Patriots in their undefeated regular season, this rivalry only continues to grow.

Ravens vs. Colts

This rivalry started before the Ravens became in existence. With the Colts formerly playing in Baltimore before moving in 1984, the hate was already formed between the fan bases. On the football field, these two teams have met many times throughout the years and often times for playoff seed positioning or the right to move on in the playoffs. With the games often times having a lot on the line, this matchup has become of the better rivalries in the NFL.
