Detroit Lions Tickets Information

The Detroit Lions are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in NFL history. For the franchise's first four seasons the franchise was known as the Portsmouth Spartans, and the organization had early success. In 1932 the Spartans won the franchise's first championship. In the 1950s the Lions experienced a run of success, leading to back-to-back championships in 1952 and 1953. Another title in 1957 marked Detroit's third title in six years, but was also the last title the Lions would win. After the franchise's fourth title, the Lions fell into a deep playoff slump, making the post season just once between 1957 and 1982, and only three times before 1991. Led by star running back Barry Sanders, the Lions went on a long run of success in the 1990s. In Sanders' ten year career spanning from 1989 to 1998, the Lions made the playoffs five times, winning two division titles, though Detroit never got over the hump and won a conference championship. The Lions have retired the numbers of six players, including that of Barry Sanders. Find more information on our History of the Lions page. 2015 Lions Season Preview

The Detroit Lions had a stellar season in 2014, winning 11 games and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2011. Quarterback Matthew Stafford had one of the best seasons of his career and the Lions were one of the best teams in the NFL from week 1. The season ended with a controversial and disappointing loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card round. In the offseason the Lions said goodbye to talented, but controversial defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, but were able to bring in veteran Haloti Ngata to try and fill the gap. The Lions also added to their ultra-talented offense by drafting Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah in the 2nd round. The addition of Abdullah should help solidify a hit or miss running game from last season and help open up the passing lanes for Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson. The big question for the Lions in 2015 will be how much the team will miss the production of Suh. If other members of the Lions defensive line can keep up the same level of play as last year, the Detroit Lions should be an outside Super Bowl contender in 2015.
