The Giants are one of football's oldest teams, founded in 1925. Named after the local baseball team, the New York Football Giants set a standard for winning when they posted winning seasons in each of the organization's three seasons, winning the NFL Championship in 1927. The Giants stayed an elite team into the 1960s, winning three more titles in 1934,1938 and 1956. New York struggled through the late 1960s and the 1970s, but things got better for the Giants after drafting quarterback Phil Simms and linebacker Lawrence Taylor, and naming Bill Parcells the head coach. The Giants once again became consistent threats, and achieved arguably its best season in franchise history while winning the Super Bowl in 1986. Sustaining success, New York won the Super Bowl again in 1990, despite an injury to Simms. When Eli Manning made his debut under center for the Giants another era of success was ushered in. Manning has led the Giants to two more Super Bowl victories in his nine-year career. New York's Ring of Honor has 35 members, including figures from both on and off the field. 2015 Giants Season Preview
The New York Giants struggled last season, posting their 2nd losing season in a row. One of the biggest areas of concern for the Giants coming into the 2015 season, is about the offensive line. New York’s O-line was one of the worst in the league in 2014, aiding the decline in play of 2 time Super Bowl winning quarterback Eli Manning. The Giants spent special attention to try and sure up that offensive line for 2015, by drafting highly touted offensive tackle prospect Ereck Flowers out of Miami. The edition of Flowers should help give Eli Manning time to find open receivers in 2015, and give superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham a chance to show off his playmaking ability. Victor Cruz is also expected to return from an injury plagued season in 2014, giving the New York Giants one of the best receiver duo’s in the NFL. The 2015 New York Giants should be much more competitive than last year, and could surprise many by challenging the Cowboys and Eagles for the NFC East crown.
